My Insecure

At this point, the music of HBO and Issa Rae’s Insecure has a brand of its own separate from the show. Beyond the relatable storyline, people also watch with the intention and expectation of being introduced to the freshest undiscovered artist or the next new banger. I’ve noticed that conversations about music selections in film/tv are more prevalent than they’ve ever been amongst my culture and I thank shows like Insecure and Atlanta for this.

Last year when the season wrapped I did a breakdown connecting the lyrics/songs to the storyline. This time I decided to start my own playlist of songs that fit the Insecure music brand based on my taste. I’ll be adding tracks on a rolling basis so send me shit you think would fit too and/or let me know what you think!
